Adventure and artistry come together in Bremont’s latest release, the Bremont Terra Nova Jimmy Chin 42.5mm Chronograph, a stunning tribute to the spirit of exploration and creative mastery of renowned filmmaker, photographer, and professional mountain athlete, Jimmy Chin. Available in two limited edition variants, this collection seamlessly marries durability with elegance, embodying both the rugged life of an adventurer and the refined touch of an artist. I was fortunate enough to get hands-on with the Bremont Supermarine 300m and can attest to the quality of their timepieces. This appears to take it up another notch.
Bremont Terra Nova x Jimmy Chin
Crafted with precision, the Terra Nova Jimmy Chin Chronograph reflects the dual nature of Chin's career, balancing elite athleticism with artistic creativity. At the heart of the design is a robust, geometric cushion case that is part of Bremont's signature Terra Nova collection, inspired by military pocket watches from the early 20th century.
This limited series offers two distinct models: a full 18ct rose gold edition, limited to just 15 pieces, and a 904L steel and rose gold version, limited to 100 pieces. Each watch is beautifully packaged in an elegant wooden display box, paired with a signed copy of Jimmy Chin’s photography book, There and Back: Photographs from the Edge.
The dial design, in striking black, is enhanced by light brown Super-LumiNova® numerals and polished rose gold sub-dials. The bi-directional rose gold bezel is fitted with a ceramic insert featuring compass markers, adding to the tool-watch feel. Notably, the red chronograph hand nods to Chin’s heritage, referencing the red lacquer used in his photography, a subtle but meaningful detail that honors his Asian roots.
The case back offers a personal touch, with an etched image of the Teton mountain range, a place close to Chin’s heart. Bremont has skillfully translated one of Chin’s own photographs into the case back design, making each watch a work of art in its own right.
Powered by a modified BE-50AV movement (SW510BH A), this chronograph runs at 28,800bph (4Hz), offering a 56-hour power reserve. Its functionality includes central hour, minute, and chronograph sweeping second hands, with sub-dials for small seconds and a 30-minute counter, along with a date function at 6 o’clock. The model is also chronometer rated to ISO 3159, ensuring exceptional accuracy.
For those who love the outdoors, the watch offers 100 meters of water resistance (10 ATM), paired with a domed anti-reflective sapphire crystal to ensure readability in all conditions. The quick-release black nubuck leather strap completes the look, adding both style and practicality.
Two Limited Editions: A Collector's Dream
18ct Rose Gold Edition: Limited to just 15 pieces, this edition features an entirely rose gold case, offering a timeless elegance that complements the sporty chronograph design.
904L Steel and Rose Gold Edition: Limited to 100 pieces, this version combines the strength of 904L steel with luxurious rose gold accents, making it both a durable and sophisticated choice.
A Unique Collaboration
The Terra Nova Jimmy Chin Chronograph is the result of an organic, year-long collaboration between Jimmy Chin and Bremont CEO Davide Cerrato. Cerrato reflects on the process: “Going through this journey with a unique man like Jimmy has been a rich and memorable experience.” The Terra Nova collection is not just another line of watches—it’s a tribute to the courage and creativity that define both Chin and the Bremont brand.
For adventure seekers, creatives, and collectors alike, the Bremont Terra Nova Jimmy Chin Chronograph represents more than just a tool watch—it’s a statement of ambition, artistry, and excellence.
