At Balance and Bridge, Christopher Ward has become a mainstay on our blog, having evolved from a promising microbrand to a leading name in the watch industry. Known for their innovative approach and online-first model, they’ve shaken up the world of horology with Swiss-made timepieces that offer luxury without breaking the bank. From their early days to the creation of their in-house Calibre SH21, Christopher Ward has risen to prominence, capturing the attention of collectors and everyday wearers alike. Now, they’re back with another bold release, the C65 Desk Diver Limited Edition, crafted in collaboration with the imaginative artist, seconde/seconde/.

On September 26th, Christopher Ward unveiled their latest creation—a diving watch that’s perfect for navigating the office grind. With just 500 pieces available, the C65 Desk Diver Limited Edition is more likely to conquer boardrooms than deep-sea trenches, but it’s built to handle both with ease.

The C65 Desk Diver draws inspiration from timepieces built for the most extreme environments, yet it cheekily acknowledges that for many wearers, the real pressure comes from a different source—office life. With its witty design elements, the watch cleverly navigates the demands of the daily grind, serving as a reminder to embrace the routine rather than escape from it.

In a humorous twist, the Desk Diver features a "dopamine toxicity graph" on the dial, warning against the perils of doom-scrolling. The message is clear: in search of a quick dopamine fix, you might find your faith in humanity plummeting. Instead, the watch encourages wearers to savor the real world, enjoy life with those around them, and avoid falling into the digital rabbit hole.

Scattered across the dial and bezel are gentle reminders to stretch your legs and take a break—but don’t wander too far, because there’s still time left to finish that all-important midday nap. The bezel even allocates a window for office gossip, offering a playful opportunity to keep an eye on your colleagues’ antics while staying ahead in the career race.

One of the quirkiest features is a Post-it-like “Desk Diver” note integrated into the dial, a tribute to those who rely on sticky notes to keep their work lives organized. It’s a fun touch that will resonate with anyone familiar with the office routine.

Romaric André, better known by his artistic moniker seconde/seconde/, offered his thoughts on the collaboration: “Honestly, I think I’m a desk diver myself. Daydreaming is my main job. Watches have this incredible ability to take you from the mundane to the extraordinary. You put on a dress watch, and suddenly you’re surrounded by marble and Art Deco. Strap on an Explorer, and you’re scaling Everest.

“With this design, I wanted to turn that around and bring you back to reality. The office is a place full of surprises—it’s the ultimate landscape. Instead of imagining where you could be, I wanted people to focus on finding something exceptional in their everyday surroundings.”

Adrian Buchmann, the lead designer at Christopher Ward, reflected on the project: “Romaric’s creativity was off the charts. We worked late into the night refining the details, from the paperclip diver’s tank on the case back to replacing the date wheel’s ‘31’ with falling coins for payday. I’m confident we hit all the right notes when the final design came together.”

Based on the C65 Aquitaine, the Desk Diver is crafted from robust 316L stainless steel, built to withstand water pressures of up to 200 meters—more than enough to survive a desk job’s demands. The case measures 12.45mm thick, with a lug-to-lug span of 46.68mm, all powered by the reliable Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement. Its +/- 20 seconds per day accuracy ensures you’ll be on time for every meeting—or your early exit, should the need arise.

The Christopher Ward seconde/ seconde/C65 Desk Diver is available starting September 26th, priced at £995/US $1195/EUR €1295 on a Black Tropic Rubber Strap or £1,160/US $1395/EUR €1510 on the Bader Bracelet. Each purchase also comes with a bonus Delugs yellow rubber strap for those who like to mix things up. Packaged in a playful custom box, the watch comes with all the office essentials—pencils, paperclips, Post-it notes, and highlighters—everything you need to keep your desk and your day in check.
