Christopher Ward’s Trident collection has long been a favorite among dive watch enthusiasts, and as it enters its 15th year, it welcomes a new standout – the C60 Trident Lumière. This all-titanium dive watch, certified as a Chronometer and equipped with a helium escape valve, represents the pinnacle of the Trident series, boasting a fresh case, bracelet, and exceptional legibility in low-light conditions.
But the launch of the Lumière isn’t just about watchmaking excellence; it also marks a new chapter in Christopher Ward’s commitment to ocean conservation. Starting from August 29th, 2% of all Trident sales will be donated to the Blue Marine Foundation, a cause close to the brand’s heart. These funds will support the foundation’s ambitious 30x30 mission, which aims to protect 30% of the world’s oceans by 2030.
A Dive Watch Built for Adventure
The C60 Trident Lumière is crafted from Grade 2 titanium, giving it a robust yet lightweight feel on the wrist. Its case measures 41mm in diameter, with a lug-to-lug distance of 47.9mm and a slim profile of just 10.85mm, making it the most wearable Trident yet. The refined design features polished chamfers on both the top and underside of the case, paired with newly reworked, bolt-on crown guards. The coin-edged bezel, housing a brushed ceramic insert with lume-filled markers, completes the look, ensuring that this watch is as functional as it is stylish.
The Lumière’s slimness is made possible by the Sellita SW300 movement, an upgrade over the SW200 found in the steel Pro 300 model. This movement not only reduces the watch’s proportions but also offers a 54-hour power reserve and Chronometer accuracy within -4/+6 seconds per day. For those who dive deep, the inclusion of a helium escape valve is a welcome addition. While most of us won’t find ourselves saturation diving anytime soon, it’s reassuring to know that the watch is equipped to handle such extreme conditions.
A Dial That Shines Like No Other
The C60 Trident Lumière is available in three striking dial colors – Blue, Black, and Orange. Each dial features a textured design, simple precision-printed minute track, and two lines of text, but the real showstopper is the lume. Christopher Ward has applied more lume to this watch than any other in their collection, using Xenoprint’s Globolight® material, the same innovative ceramic-infused with Super-LumiNova® that’s found on the C1 Moonglow.
The dial’s 17 applied Globolight® pieces, along with the hands, ensure that the Lumière shines five times brighter and longer than a regular Trident. The attention to detail in shaping and chamfering each piece is a testament to Christopher Ward’s dedication to craftsmanship, even if it means going beyond their usual cost considerations.
A Bracelet That’s Just as Impressive
The launch of the Lumière also introduces an eagerly awaited update to Christopher Ward’s three-link Bader bracelet. Made from Grade 2 titanium, like the case, the bracelet features a 6.5mm taper and polished bevels along each link’s flank. The clasp has been improved as well, now shorter in length and equipped with a new push-button system for 6mm of on-the-fly micro-adjustment.
Shining a Light on Ocean Conservation
At Christopher Ward, it’s not just about creating exceptional timepieces; it’s also about doing good. With the release of the C60 Trident Lumière, the brand is proud to introduce its ‘Trident 2% to BMF’ initiative, using this new model to highlight the importance of ocean conservation. As Co-Founder and CEO Mike France puts it, “We’re committed to creating watches that our customers will love, but equally to doing ‘good’ business with purpose.”
