Over the past year and a half, we've followed nearly every step Christopher Ward has taken, featuring them in numerous reviews and best watch lists. Their dedication to innovation and craftsmanship has continually impressed us, making them a staple in our coverage. With the release of their latest collection, the C65 Dune Aeolian, they once again prove why they remain a brand to watch.
The Christopher Ward C65 Dune Aeolian Collection
Christopher Ward is ringing in the new year with an update to its vintage-inspired field watch collection. The first release of 2025 introduces the Christopher Ward C65 Dune Aeolian Collection, a refined take on the rugged yet stylish field watch. Drawing inspiration from the mesmerizing wind-shaped patterns of the Dune du Pilat in southern France, this collection brings fresh textures, new colorways, and upgraded straps while maintaining Christopher Ward’s reputation for craftsmanship at an accessible price point.
The Art of Texture: Aeolian-Inspired Dials
Aeolian patterns—formed by wind shaping the sand into gentle, wave-like ridges—are at the heart of the Dune Aeolian’s design. “We haven’t done much with three-dimensional textured dials before The Twelve,” shares Christopher Ward’s CEO and co-founder, Mike France. “But they bring a watch to life in a unique way. The Dune Aeolian’s dial is completely different from The Twelve’s, though—it’s soft, flowing, and organic.”
Senior Designer Will Brackfield notes that the new collection builds on the success of the recently sold-out, limited-edition Dune Shoreline, a collaboration with Oracle Time. “The response was fantastic—people loved the evocative dial and striking color scheme. With Dune Aeolian, we refined those details further, offering a broader palette and enhanced versatility.”
Meet the New Models
Replacing the original Dune lineup, the C65 Dune Aeolian Collection introduces three distinct models:
C65 Dune Aeolian Automatic (starting at £750/$895/€950)
A classic automatic field watch available in four nature-inspired hues—Silica Grey, Eve Blue, Marram Green, and White Sand. Each dial is accented with vintage-style lume, and customers can choose between Canvas, Vintage Oak Leather, or a Bader bracelet.
C65 Dune Aeolian Bronze COSC (starting at £985/$1,165/€1,235)
This model pairs a bronze case, designed to develop a unique patina over time, with gradient dials in earthy Dusk Brown and Marram Green. Inside, a COSC-certified Sellita SW200 movement ensures precision. Strap options include Vintage Oak Leather or a matching Bronze Bader bracelet.
C65 Dune Aeolian GMT (starting at £995/$1,165/€1,250)
A traveler’s companion, the GMT model features dual-time functionality with a prominent GMT hand and a raised outer ring for enhanced legibility. It’s available in White Sand and Eve Blue, with multiple strap choices.
Technical Specifications
Each model in the C65 Dune Aeolian lineup is powered by a reliable Sellita movement, housed in a 38mm case with a 150m water resistance rating. The automatic and GMT models feature sapphire casebacks, allowing a view of the movement in action. The Bronze COSC edition benefits from a higher level of accuracy, certified within -4/+6 seconds per day.
Christopher Ward continues to strike a balance between adventure-ready durability and refined aesthetics. The C65 Dune Aeolian Collection is a testament to the brand’s ability to push boundaries while staying true to its philosophy of delivering premium watches at fair prices.
