HUBLOT has never been one to play it safe, and its latest release proves that yet again. The Swiss watchmaker has been breaking new ground in materials for years—think brightly colored ceramics, scratch-resistant gold, and now, Magic Ceramic, a first-of-its-kind multi-colored ceramic.

Pushing the Boundaries with HUBLOT Magic Ceramic
For over a decade, Hublot has been the go-to brand for ceramic watchmaking, developing bold hues that no one else could quite replicate. But mixing multiple colors into a single ceramic case? That’s something entirely new. It took years of research, countless trials, and a whole lot of patience to get this right. Unlike layering pigments like paint, Hublot’s new patent-pending process involves carefully balancing color and heat during the molding and firing stages to create a seamless, natural-looking fusion of shades.
Meet the Big Bang Unico Magic Ceramic

The first watch to showcase this innovation is the Big Bang Unico Magic Ceramic, a limited edition of just 20 pieces. The 44mm case, crafted from multi-colored ceramic, features a deep gray base with striking blue circular patterns that look almost like a modern art piece. The ceramic bezel, also in dark gray, frames the skeletonized dial, allowing a glimpse of the movement beneath. Hublot’s use of polished and microblasted finishes gives the ceramic a dynamic appearance, playing with light as the watch moves.
Inside, Hublot keeps things just as exciting. The watch is powered by the HUB1280 UNICO automatic flyback chronograph movement, a self-winding column-wheel chronograph developed entirely in-house. The movement beats at 4Hz (28,800 vph) and offers an impressive 72-hour power reserve, making it a reliable companion whether you’re tracking time at a motorsport event or simply admiring its craftsmanship.
The skeletonized dial features a mix of dark and metallic gray elements, creating a striking contrast against the blue ceramic detailing. Applied hour markers and hands are filled with Super-LumiNova, ensuring legibility in low light. A 60-minute chronograph counter sits at 3 o’clock, balanced by a running seconds subdial at 9 o’clock, while the date window at 3 o’clock is subtly integrated for added functionality. The sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment ensures a clear view of the dial at all times.
Completing the watch is a black lined rubber strap, seamlessly blending comfort with Hublot’s signature high-tech aesthetic. The strap attaches to a titanium deployant buckle, ensuring a secure and comfortable fit on the wrist. The watch is water-resistant up to 100 meters, making it as durable as it is visually striking.
A Glimpse into Hublot’s Future

Hublot’s Director of R&D, Mathias Buttet, summed it up best: "Bringing Magic Ceramic to life is a perfect example of what Hublot does best—blending science, craftsmanship, and bold creativity. After four years of development, we’ve cracked the code on multi-colored ceramic, and this is just the beginning.”
With the introduction of Magic Ceramic, Hublot once again proves that it’s in a league of its own when it comes to pushing the boundaries of watch materials. And with the 20th anniversary of the Big Bang collection coming up in 2025, this latest release is a reminder that Hublot isn’t slowing down anytime soon. If anything, they’re just getting started.
