Established in 2011 by Stockholm-based designer David Campo, Nezumi is a creative hub encompassing a range of passions, including premium watchmaking, designer apparel, and the in-house classic Porsche 911 club, Roughneck Brigade™. The common thread uniting these pursuits is an unwavering commitment to detail and a genuine love for heritage, with a shared aspiration for perfection in all Nezumi® products. If none of this is obvious yet, it will be.
With nearly two decades of experience in the fashion industry, David has been involved in various aspects such as creative direction, product design, brand building, sourcing, and manufacturing for leading global brands. Seeking total creative freedom, he founded Nezumi in 2011.
The studio's inaugural venture in 2011 was the limited production of 50 selvage denim jeans named N-0-2-50, denoting the quantity made. They quickly sold out, leading to the evolution of collections featuring denim, leather goods, accessories, and the eventual addition of watches. Notably, the first watch, the Voiture, was launched in 2015. Nezumi's genesis, its diverse creative endeavors, and the initial success that paved the way for its expansion into the world of watches have led to ourselves, and others taking notice. We like what we see.
Nezumi Aviera GMT - A Long Time Coming
Founder David Campo originally designed the Aviera "7-8 years ago" and claims it was supposed to be the second watch released under the Nezumi® Brand. Many may understand why Campo chose to delay it, as affordable and available GMT movements were not commonplace, especially automatic and manually wound variations. When Seiko later introduced their NH34/NH34A automatic movements for their SSK model line, Campo knew the opportunity was coming to revisit the nearly decade old Aviera. After a few tweaks and minor adjustments, Campo "landed on what you see here".
The name Aviera combines the words 'Aviation' and the Swedish word 'Navigera', which means to navigate. A fitting name for the piece that combines classic aviation based design with a touch of Swedish flair.
Aviera GMT Specifications
Powered by Seiko's Automatic GMT cal.NH34 movement, it boasts a robust 40+ hours of power reserve when fully wound, making sure it keeps ticking through your adventures.
The watch features a fixed bezel with a 24-hour scale, adding a practical touch for those who appreciate GMT functionality. The custom cream-colored Grade X1 Swiss Super-LumiNova® ensures that it's not just a daytime companion, offering visibility in low-light conditions.
Encased in brushed 316L Stainless Steel, this watch is not only durable but also exudes an awesome vintage tool aesthetic. With a water resistance of up to 200m (20 ATM or 660 ft.), it's also ready for underwater escapades. The 40mm diameter (excluding the crown) strikes a balance between presence and wearability, while the 12mm case height (plus a 1.55mm domed glass) adds a touch of dimension.
The lug-to-lug distance of 47mm and a lug width of 20mm ensure a comfortable fit on your wrist. The screw-down crown, adorned with trademark branding, adds a distinctive touch while contributing to the watch's water resistance. Flip it over, and you'll find a screw-on machined case back proudly displaying its branding.
